Letter: Why is the Trump camp so afraid to testify in court? | Letters

If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth? Take the Fifth is a haven for gangsters. “Harrible” he says in that New York accent. It’s shameful what they’re doing by taking the Fifth to Congress. Just part of what former President Donald Trump said about fifth place.

Before the Congressional Commission investigating January 6, conspiracy scholar Alex Jones took the Fifth more than 100 times refusing to even answer what he had for lunch. Did he steal lunch from an alien spacecraft and assume the aliens had extradition treaties with the United States? Who knows what nonsense lurks in the mind of Alex Jones?

Who else takes the Fifth? There’s Jeff Clark, the guy Trump wanted as attorney general when Barr resigned just before his administration ended, and attorney John Eastman who wrote the memo on how Trump could hold on to power after losing the elections. Then we have Roger Stone, a man accustomed to pleading the Fifth.

Given the former president’s sincere feelings about pleading the Fifth, most shocking is his son Eric pleading the Fifth, not once but 500 times during a deposition related to New York’s investigation into the affairs of the former president. Allen Weisselberg, chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, was not surprised.

If all these people are innocent, why are they pleading the Fifth? There is a saying that if you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything. It follows that if you’re not breaking the law, you don’t have to worry about self-incrimination. Wondering what Trump would say today about fifth place?
