The brother of “cult mom” Lori Vallow, accused of killing her two children, described when he realized the missing children were dead.
The older brother of the so-called “apocalyptic cult” mother of the United States, accused of the deaths of her two children and her ex-husband, said he was concerned when she and their other brother adopted children. apocalyptic beliefs.
Adam Cox discussed his sister Lori Vallow in a bonus episode of the podcast The followers: madness for two, which details the tangled affair over several episodes.
He described Ms. Vallow as an older sister who played sports while growing up in a Mormon family in Southern California.
Years later, Ms Vallow and her brother, Alex Cox, embraced Doomsday’s prophecies, even before meeting her fifth husband, Chad Daybell, an author who has written about these beliefs.
“I will say that with Chad Daybell even though I don’t know much about him,” said Adam Cox. “When he met Lori and Alex, they were already – when I say the perfect storm, they were ready to be taken.
“I think Lori may have been mentally ill her whole life,” he added.
Ms Vallow and Dr Daybell face conspiracy and murder charges in connection with several deaths, including her two children – Joshua “JJ” Vallow, seven, his 17-year-old sister Tylee Ryan – and Tammy Daybell, 49 years.
“Knowing what Lori and Alex were going through with these people talking about the end of the world, and knowing how Lori was – and Lori talked a lot about death actually, talked about the next life, how great the next life is. awesome and how it’s gonna be perfect and how his kids won’t have to suffer in the next life, ”Adam Cox said in the podcast episode released Wednesday.
“I was like, ‘If they’re good, Lori, tell me where these kids are,'” he added.
“If she says, ‘Well, I’m not going to tell you where the kids are,’ that means the kids aren’t alive. I knew immediately that the children were dead.
Ms Vallow was arrested in January 2020 in Hawaii after failing to present the children – who had been reported missing months before – at the behest of Idaho child protection workers. Their remains were discovered on the Daybell property months later.
Mr Daybell is also charged with the death of his ex-wife, Tammy Daybell, who died weeks before marrying Ms Vallow.
Ms Vallow is also charged with the death in July 2019 of her ex-spouse, Charles Vallow.
He was reportedly shot dead by Alex Cox, who has never been charged and died of natural causes.
Ms Vallow and Mr Daybell have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. The complex case took a turn after Ms Vallow was declared mentally unfit by a judge to stand trial.
“My mom and dad wrote to Lori in prison, and the letters they received from Lori indicate that Lori hasn’t changed her position or personality at all,” said Adam Cox.
“Apparently she’s not talking to anyone. So at this point she can’t defend herself as she doesn’t answer any of the questions they ask her.
Idaho prosecutors have said they intend to seek the death penalty for Mr. Daybell.
