Rob Font defeats Cody Garbrandt and prepares for Jose Aldo fight

Rob Font has yet to have a bigger fight than the one currently awaiting him at UFC on ESPN 31. But to get to Jose Aldo he had to take out another former champion.

In his first main promotional event in May, Font (19-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) was teamed up with former bantamweight champion Cody # UFC Garbrandt at UFC Fight Night 188.

A small betting favorite on major online sports betting (according to best fight odds), Font dominated Garbrandt (12-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) en route to a unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45 , 48-47). The performance was methodical and masterful. Font’s impeccable boxing took its toll on Garbrandt, who held on for the full 25 minutes.

The victory extended Font’s winning streak to four and set him up for another five-round fight, this time against former UFC featherweight champion Aldo (30-7 MMA, 20-6 UFC ).

UFC on ESPN 31 takes place on Saturday, December 4 at UFC Apex and airs on ESPN / ESPN +.
